Concept Description
The Uutela canal in Vuosaari attracts people to come to relax and enjoy the scenery. The functional canal environment was designed to enrich the area and it is built for recreational use only. It was awarded the Environmental Construction Award in 2010. The beacon-inspired lighting of the canal area is visually connected to the surrounding residential area by using the same light columns as on Vuotie road. The perforated pylons beam beautifully in the maritime landscape, and at night the bridge rails give off a mysterious glow. The light columns on the waterfront give out light in four directions, guiding those strolling along and defining a rhythm for the pedestrian area by the shoreline.
