Concept Description
TUI Cruises ordered a new environmentally sustainable cruise ship to be built in Turku, Finland. This cruiser, Mein Schiff 3, was delivered in 2014, and it has the capacity of 99,000 GRT and its length is 295 meters. Because of the environmental requirements, the ship contains many new innovations, and also lighting has been specifically designed to meet even highest expectations. In designing lighting systems for ships, energy efficiency is given top priority as all energy is generated on board, and consumption is directly linked to fuel prices. Simultaneously, lighting has a major role to play in making sure the passengers enjoy their cruise in an amicable atmosphere. Energy-efficient and controllable led lighting combines these two aims without compromises. Mein Schiff 3 contains twelve kilometres of OSRAM’s LINEARlight FLEX strip. Of it, 1,5 kilometres consists of DMX controlled RGB led strip. Led strips and Traxon’s DMX dimming system work together in creating a harmonious and dynamic lighting in the restaurants and lobbies.
