Concept Description

The open-air museum of Seurasaari is located on a beautiful green island just a few kilometers from the heart of Helsinki. Seurasaari lighting project was an important part of Helsinki Culture Capital projects at 2000 to give people possibility to visit the Open – Air Museum area in autumn and winter time, when we need outdoor lighting in daytime too. Area lighting includes the path lighting around the island, some museum buildings and special other targets. White light colour is the connecting theme on city center facades and . Facade illuminations are designed on buildings: Karuna church (1686), and Villa Floreen. Winter lighting includes also the lighting of several big, beautiful trees in park area. the wooden church from Karuna Local cultural specialty is created by gobo projections.
