Kauppahalli market hall: “Mercato”

Kauppahalli market hall installation called “Mercato” was designed by lighting designers Timo Alhanen (TeM) and Jaakko Kiukkanen. The 110 years old market hall is a historically valuable and traditional indoors market place in Tampere. With its calm elegance, the “Mercato” artwork accentuates the architecture and respects the traditions of the market hall. Timo Alhanen has his career in the field of performing arts and theatre. He is currently working as a lighting designer for The Tampere Workers’ Theatre (Tampereen Työväen Teatteri). Jaakko Kiukkanen specializes in architectural lighting in his company Takt, working on lighting designs for museums and exhibitions.
