Concept Description
The Kivisydän structures located above ground showcase photographs of old Oulu, the majority of which come from the collection of works by photographer Uuno Laukka (1914–1978) housed at Northern Ostrobothnia Museum. The holes in the steel-plate walls are used to project old photographs that can be admired on the walls of three elevator or ventilation shafts. The walls of the Kauppurienkatu elevator shaft feature water-themed pictures. The elevator shaft in front of Valkealinna at Otto Karhi Park showcase the architectural history of the area. There is even a third shaft at Otto Karhi, mainly for ventilation purposes. The images selected for this shaft include those of Pikisaari and Sokeri-Jussi, a bandy match, and the old Hailuoto steamer.
