Concept Description
The Esplanade Park in the heart of Helsinki has been the city’s premier park for over 200 years. The park is a popular promenade for both tourists and residents, and the Espa stage provides an ideal setting for different kinds of events in the park. The park is situated between the shopping streets of Pohjoisesplanadi and Eteläesplanadi, whose neo-Renaissance European architecture dates back to the late 1800’s. One of the starting points when designing lighting for park areas is often to retain the daylight look. This has been successfully implemented in Esplanade Park and the design of the street lights is also brought out during the darker hours. The innovative structure of the unique low rise street lights in the park enables lighting of the driveway, the walkway as well as the trees and buildings surrounding the park using the same light.
